A Non Profit Community Organization Supporting Excellence in Education

How Can You Help?

Running a charitable organization requires a lot of work. The Foundation welcomes volunteers to help in the following areas:

Educational Improvement Tax Credit
REF is an approved Educational Improvement organization and business contributors may be eligible to receive the Educational Improvement Tax Credit.

Pennsylvania companies that commit to donating one year receive a 75% tax credit and for two years receive a 90% tax credit. Credits are applied to corporate net income tax, capital stock franchise tax, bank and trust company share tax, title insurance company share tax, insurance premiums tax and mutual thrift institutions tax. By donating to REF through the EITC program, companies in the community support public education.

Can your company take advantage of the EITC program and support public education? See the information below and contact Joy Antonoplos.

EITC Partners: Bryn Mawr Trust Company, Giant Foods, Inc., Penn Liberty Bank

Volunteering

We realize that you have a choice of when and where to volunteer your time to charity. Please consider that helping the Radnor Educational Foundation is making an investment in the children of Radnor and our next generation of leaders.

Board Work
The Board of Directors oversees the various functions of the REF. All board members are assigned to a committee either as chair or as a committee member. The board meets quarterly.

Special Projects
REF continues its commitment to fund an education-based leadership program.  A new climbing wall has been constructed at RES and a climbing wall with low ropes components will be installed at the new middle school, offering a curriculum based program that develops team building, self-esteem, communication, trust, leadership and social skills for all students.

The Foundation has renewed its support of the STARS (SummerTime Achievement in Reading) program with funding. Approximately 70 1st and 2nd graders, identified in need of reading support are afforded the opportunity to attend a summer camp that incorporates hands-on activities, integrating literature, movement and writing with read-aloud and listening experiences.  The camp program allows students to continue to make significant progress in their reading strategies and comprehension.

REF is taking a proactive approach to community needs and issues by forming a new Community Outreach committee.  This group works closely with the Drug and Alcohol Task Force(DATF) to create a curriculum-based wellness program both for students and families.

In addition, REF is assisting the Alumni Association of Radnor High School (AARHS) with ongoing communications with Radnor graduates, strengthening the bond between the alumni and school district and gaining the knowledge and accomplishments of our alumni for future generations. In turn, we can develop a base of future support for our schools and REF.

Fundraising

Annual Appeal
The Annual Appeal is our largest fundraising activity. Each fall, we solicit donations from individuals and families within the Township. The resulting contributions enable us to continue supporting key programs and services. We welcome your financial support and would appreciate any help you can give us in preparing this 5,000-piece mailing.

United Way
The Foundation receives support from the United Way.  Our United Way Donor Choice Number is 10778.  Please contact the United Way for information on how to direct your contribution to REF.

Corporate Appeal
The Corporate Appeal is a targeted effort to solicit local companies to partner with the Foundation on programs of mutual interest and benefit. You can help by identifying target companies and by introducing the Foundation to the appropriate contact person(s).

Annual Gala
The annual dinner dance and silent auction serves to bring together the friends of the Foundation and the champions of better education in Radnor Township School District. The Gala Committee is always looking for help in any number of areas. Contact the REF office if you are interested in volunteering your time and expertise to making this a fun and profitable event.

In Kind Donations
The Foundation truly appreciates the support you and other community members provide us in the form of in-kind donations. We gratefully accept office equipment and supplies, printing services, media support, website management or items that can be sold at our annual silent auction.

Give a Gift with a Future
Honor someone special by giving a Gift with a Future.  Your tax-deductible contribution of $ 10 each or $ 25 for three cards will help our efforts to enhance and enrich programs for our students. A Gift with a Future may be sent in recognition and honor a teacher, school employee, friend, coach, special occasion or as a memorial donation. We will send a card to the person you designate and a receipt for your gift directly to you.
